Job Description:

The Dental Hygiene Nurse plays a vital role in supporting our dental hygienists and dentists in providing high-quality care. This position involves a blend of clinical responsibilities and patient interaction, requiring a compassionate approach and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of oral health.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Support: Assist dental hygienists and dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including but not limited to oral examinations, dental cleanings, x-rays, and fluoride treatments.
2. Patient Care: Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment. Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration.
3. Infection Control: Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, prepare and lay out the instruments and materials required to treat each patient.
4. Operatory Preparation: Prepare the dental operatory for patient treatment as per the dentist’s or dental hygienist’s instructions and ensure that all necessary tools and materials are ready.
5. Record Keeping: Update and maintain client dental records accurately and efficiently. Ensure compliance with strict confidentiality guidelines.
6. Inventory Management: Keep track of dental materials, equipment, and instruments, ensuring that supplies are ordered and stocked as

needed.

Requirements:

• NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing, or equivalent.
• Valid registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
• Previous experience in a dental practice is preferred.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in a dental clinic.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on patient care.
• Ability to work well in a team and under the supervision of dental professionals.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including evenings and weekends, if required.
